Who We Are

Mio Yamamoto
Co-Founder & Executive Director

mio yamamoto

Mio has more than nine years of experience in providing high-impact social entrepreneurs with capacity building and funding support. After the Great East Japan Earthquake, she co-founded WIT to support social entrepreneurs in the disaster-affected area. Prior to WIT, Mio was a Partner of Social Venture Partners, a venture philanthropy organization, and also worked for McKinsey & Co. as Summer Associate and Sumitomo Chemical. Mio completed ORSC® (Organization and Relationship Systems Coaching) courses. She gave talks about social entrepreneurship, leadership, and post-disaster social entrepreneurship at universities, community organizations, and corporations, including MIT, NYU, Columbia University and SVP International. Mio received an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management, and BA with a major in International Relations from the University of Tokyo.
